Our founder, Don Smith, ChFC®, majored in biology and conservation at Central Michigan University, later joining the Peace Corps before a chance encounter led him to pivot to begin his financial professional career.
Don earned the respect of his long-time clients by tackling turbulent markets with candid, upfront conversations and a passionate dedication to honest work. During his tenure, he quietly funded a Delta College scholarship and made contributions to a visually-impaired endowment fund.
Don is currently enjoying the next chapter of life on the family farm. He especially cherishes the time he and his wife, Janeen, spend with their kids and grandchildren.

Business owner and fiduciary, Sarah Holmes is a long-standing, familiar face at Smith & Company. She is a finance graduate and former starting pitcher (Loyola University Chicago). She applies over two decades of hands-on industry experience to helping clients with their finances.
Sarah and her team help families, divorcees, and busy single parents as fiduciary counsel, offering honest guidance without resorting to pressure or judgment.
